Kolhapur:The city celebrated Eid-ul-Fitr on Saturday with high enthusiasm against a peaceful atmosphere. The Muslim community offered aspecial namaz at the Muslim Boarding in Dasara Chowk and other mosques.
Superintendent of police Yogesh Kumar Gupta, additional superintendent of police Dheeraj Kumar Bacchu, city deputy superintendent of police Priya Patil, Shiv Sena UBT district convenor Vijay Dewane, Maratha Mahasangh national deputy president Vasant Mulik were present on the occasion at the Muslim Boarding to exchange greetings with the Muslim community.
Gani Ajrekar, chairman of Muslim Boarding, said, "Eid-ul-Fitr is a celebration of the completion of the month-long holy fast.
It is a time for forgiveness and reconciliation, for strengthening family and community ties, and for performing acts of charity and kindness towards those in need. Later, the members of the community hugged each other and gave wishes for Eid-ul-Fitr to one another."
Imran Chand, a resident from Bagal Chowk area, said, "After offering the holy Namaz, we arranged a get-together of all my siblings at my place for a grand Ramzan feast. Shirkurma or kheer, along with kebabs, biryani and other summer coolers, were on the platter. We also purchased a new electric car on Eid!"
