Kolhapur: A farmer (60) from Kandur village in Sangli district was critically injured after an attack by a leopard. He is currently admitted in Kolhapur CPR Hospital for treatment.
The farmer, identified as Jagannath Balu Gundanke, was working in field on Saturday. The officials from the forest department found pug marks of the leopard in the vicinity.
Local MLA Satyajeet Deshmukh said, "I have told health authorities to get higher treatment at govt expenses for the injured farmer. We have taken up the issue of leopard attack to minister of forests Ganesh Naik."
In another incident, another farmer (60) was injured by an attack by an Indian gaur inside the buffer zone of Sahyadri Tiger Reserve in Shahuwadi forest of the district.The attack left the farmer with broken leg, neck and an injury to the spine. The farmer identified as Tukaram Chandru Wadam from Ukhalu village of Shahuwadi tehsil. He was rushed to Kolhapur's CPR Hospital for treatment.
