Garbhagriha of Mahalaxmi temple to remain closed between March 14 to 17 for conservation works
Kolhapur: Devotees won't be allowed darshan of the main idols of Goddess Mahalaxmi, Goddess Mahakali, and Goddess Mahasaraswati from March 14-17 in view of conservation and maintenance work at the revered Mahalaxmi Temple, including restoration of the temple's sanctum sanctorum (garbhagriha) by the archaeological department.Shivraj Naikwade, secretary of the Paschim Maharashtra Devasthan Samiti, said, "Interior and exterior conservation work will be carried out in the garbhagriha of the Mahalaxmi, Mahakali and Mahasaraswati temples between March 14 and 17. During this period, devotees will be able to offer prayers to the Utsav murti of Goddess Mahalaxmi and the Tattva Kalash of the Goddess. All daily rituals of the temple will continue without interruption. From 12.30pm on March 17, darshan of the original idols will resume as usual. We request the cooperation of all devotees."
