Kochi: Regional Sanitary Waste Incineration Plant, which is being set up in Kochi as a permanent solution to sanitary waste problem in central Kerala, will be ready in six months. Foundation stone for the plant was laid by local self-govt minister M B Rajesh at Brahmapuram on Friday.
The plant, established under the leadership of Clean Kerala Company, will assist in sanitary waste management of Ernakulam, Alappuzha, Kottayam and Idukki districts. Currently, there is a significant issue due to lack of scientific disposal systems for nappies, sanitary pads and similar waste generated in homes and institutions.

The plant has the capacity to process 20 tonnes of waste per day. Waste collected by local self-govt bodies will be transported directly to the plant by Clean Kerala Company. tnn
