Kochi: Railway Protection Force (RPF) from Ernakulam arrested one more person in connection with pelting stones at a moving train at Kumbalam on Aug 30. The locopilot had a narrow escape as the stones broke the lookout glass in the locomotive.
The arrested person was identified as Saneesh P K, 38, from Ezhupunna in Aroor. The RPF arrested a 32-year-old man last week in connection with the incident. The accused pelted stones at Alappuzha-Kannur Express, train no. 16307, when it reached Kumbalam. The accused claimed that ballast on the track was pelted at the train without any malafide intention.
The accused were arrested by Ernakulam South RPF team under inspector Binoy Antony. They identified the accused after examining CCTV visuals. Three friends, including the accused, were sitting near the track when the train was passing. Two of them pelted ballast at the train.
Stone pelting at moving trains has often been reported from various places in the state.
