Membership drive for traffic clubs planned

The Kochi rural police are planning to increase the number of members in traffic clubs, an initiative launched in Aluva to ease traffic congestion in the city.

KOCHI: The Kochi rural police are planning to increase the number of members in traffic clubs, an initiative launched in Aluva to ease traffic congestion in the city.
The members of the clubs include car and autorickshaw drivers and shopkeepers.
On Friday , rural superintendent P N Unnirajan felicitated three members in a club by giving them reflective jackets and whistle.

The felicitated members include auto drivers Shyju, Ismail and Siraj plying near KSRTC stand, Palace Road and Cochin Bank Junction, respectively .
The club members are trained in regulating traffic.
SI Muhammad Kabeer said, “The clubs will be expanded by including students and those likeminded people“.
The traffic clubs have been formed in all major junctions in Aluva with the support of car drivers, auto drivers and shopkeepers.
