‘Bias against Sabarimala protesters’

‘Bias against Sabarimala protesters’
Kochi: BJP state president K Surendran has criticized the Pinarayi govt for its biased approach in handling the cases registered against CAA protesters and Sabarimala protesters. He said that the decision taken ahead of the Lok Sabha elections showed Pinarayi Vijayan’s double standards.
The govt directed the police chief to withdraw cases against those who protested over the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) in Kerala.

However, the govt is unwilling to withdraw cases in the Sabarimala issue, he said.
The CM mentioned that there is infiltration of terrorists in CAA protests held in Kerala. Yet, without verifying, the withdrawal of all cases seems aimed at gaining votes from the community, he said. Surendran added that the protest against the CAA was an organized agitation against Centre granting citizenship to minorities from neighbouring countries who were persecuted on religious grounds.
“The Sabarimala incident was a peaceful ‘Namajapa Yatra’ to protect faith. Police filed cases against thousands of people, including women. These cases still remain. The withdrawal of cases against CAA protesters exposes Muslim favoritism, he added. TNN
