KOCHI: Ernakulam Central police registered a case of forgery against a former female student after Maharaja's College principal VS Joy filed a complaint that she had forged an experience certificate using the college's name and seal. The accused was identified as Vidya K, a native of Trikaripur in Kasaragod who completed her MA (Malayalam) in 2018.
She allegedly forged an experience certificate stating that she worked as an assistant professor on contract basis in Malayalam department from June 4, 2018 to March 31, 2019 and June 10, 2020 to March 31, 2021.
She used this certificate to apply for the vacancy of a guest faculty at Rajiv Gandhi Memorial Government Arts and Science College in Attapadi.
This 'illegal' activity came to light when authorities of RGM College sent an email to Joy after they became suspicious of her certificate's authenticity. On verification, it was found that her certificate was fake and there was not even a guest faculty vacancy in Malayalam department during the period she mentioned. Following this, Joy filed a complaint against her seeking action.
"One of the teachers in the interview panel at RGM College used to work in Hindi department at Maharaja's College during the said period and she knew there was no guest faculty vacancy. This led to some suspicion. Police should find how she forged a document with the college's name, seal and the principal's signature," Joy said.
Central Police said a case was registered under IPC Sections 465, 468 and 471 against the accused. The case is likely to be transferred to Agali police station as RGM College is located in its jurisdiction.
Meanwhile, KSU activists staged a protest at Maharaja's College alleging that Vidya was an active SFI worker. They alleged that she used the same fake certificate to work as a guest faculty member at a government college in Palakkad and also tried to appear for an interview in another college. Ernakulam DCC alleged that SFI state secretary PM Arsho had a role in the fake certificate row as Vidya was a close friend.
