Sporting funky hairdo to outdo rivals at Antaragni

A hub of fashion, celebration, exuberance and competitions, Antaragni on Saturday witnessed trendy haircuts of boys attending the gala. From pony tails to cropped short hair, from side haircut to centre tails, there was hardly any hairdo that the boys attending the IIT-K annual extravaganza did not sport at a hairstyle competition.

A hub of fashion, celebration, exuberance and competitions, Antaragni on Saturday witnessed trendy haircuts of boys attending the gala. From pony tails to cropped short hair, from side haircut to centre tails, there was hardly any hairdo that the boys attending the IIT-K annual extravaganza did not sport at a hairstyle competition.
The boys wore macho look with trendy goggles and stylish hairdo as they competed with each other.

As boys at the student activity centre tried to outdo each other, girls sported piercings in their ears, navel, eyebrows and lower lip. The boys even had tattoos on their hands, back and neck to appear as the most happening.
The style sported by Gurpreet of Giani Zail Singh college of engineering and technology, Jalandhar was one in which their were long hair in the front and back of the head but sides were trimmed. On being asked what inspired his funky haircut, Gurpreet said he always wanted to carry the latest haircut and for Antaragni he got a special one.
Inspired by guitarist Splash of Guns and Roses band, Anshul Sharma of Kanpur had kept long hair with a pony tail and a complete face beard. Tied with a band, the coloured hair of Anshul was trendy and sophisticated. “I am a big fan of Splash, the Guns and Roses guitarist. I too love to play guitar. While performing in the college concert, long hair is a must. My hair is my treasure and I take great care of it,” said an elated Anshul on being clicked by TOI lensman.
Dennis, a freelance choreographer from Delhi who came with a team of students sports a unique hair style. It’s a straight tail crafted by trimming both sides and the back of the scalp, which helped him grab the eyeballs. Some of his colleagues wore the same look. As a team they performed in the group dance event at the student activity centre and won accolades.
Talking inspiration from rapper/singer Yo Yo Honey Singh, Rohit Verma of IIT-Kanpur had a similar haircut. “I am inspired by Yo Yo Honey Singh. He not only sings peppy numbers which are an instant hit among the young crowd, his videos make an impact too. I follow him and have been imbibing him,” said an exuberant Rohit while talking to TOI.

Sumit Dutt of Shaheed Bhagat Singh College and Manish Gosain of Delhi college of Arts and commerce too had funky haircut which was a sure-shot hit amongst the ‘junta’ at Antaragni. Both students said that keeping tune with the latest fashion is what they like the most. The two said they drew inspiration from the latest trends and had been donning such a hair line for past one year.
Namita Khusbhoo, first-year student of B.Com honours course in Shaheed Bhagat Singh college had lot many piercings in her ear. “I love body piercing and I like to be in style. I am also fond of nail art. These fashion trends are a part of my life,” chuckled Namita.
