KANPUR: Seema Parihar, who was once a dreaded bandit of Chambal, is now up in arms against corruption.
Taking part in a protest organised by Rashtriya Bhrashtachar Unmoolan Samiti here at Shikshak Park on Friday, Parihar welcomed the Supreme Court's order to make public the details of black money stashed away abroad by Indians.
Speaking against corruption, she said the government must ensure that all the money stashed away abroad is brought back.
"It is the civil society and the common masses who are raising their voice against corruption," she said.
Shakir Ali Usmani, city president, Rashtriya Bhrashtachar Unmoolan Samiti, said, "Even 63 years after the independence, the situation hasn't changed. In fact, it has deteriorated. But the government is not ready to do anything."
Holding banners and shouting slogans against corruption in the country, hundreds of people gathered at the Shikshak Park to demand an effective law to curb corruption.
