"On day one, around 2,144 pulse polio booths will be set up in the city. These booths will be set up at schools, hospitals, bus stands, railway station, and at all prominent crossings. The rest of the six days will be dedicated for door-to-door pulse polio administration in which 1,630 teams will take part," informed CMO, Dr RP Yadav.
The health authorities also constituted 96 transit teams and transit points to divide the workload properly. Some 65 mobile teams will also be deployed in the event to make it successful. The district health department ordered the workers of different teams to lay special emphasis to the areas where the performance of polio campaigns were recorded low in the previous pulse polio drives. The health department has also chalked out plans to organize symposiums and rallies to create awareness about polio among people.
"We will connect students, teachers, and NGOs in the campaign to create awareness in the masses. People of religious institutions can also play a vital role in creating awareness. Modes of traditional arts will be used to attract rural folks," said immunization officer, Dr Rajeev Yadav.
According to the heath department authorities, areas like Kalyanpur, Ghatampur and Billhore witnessed lowest turnout for polio administration in past several polio campaigns. The health teams failed to administer the vaccines at homes in the areas like Kakwan alsong with zone 15, 10, 9, 5, and 3.
