KANPUR: While the epidemic deaths have alerted locals who are paying more attention to sanitation in their areas, municipal and district administrative authorities have maintained that the mystery fever is not vector-borne. The authorities have also said cleanliness and regular sanitation in localities is essential to check the spread of disease.
Talking to TOI, chief medical officer Dr RP Yadav, said patients suffering fr om viral infections may be increasing, but reports of deaths due to malaria and dengue are false.
tnn He said he had constituted a team for verification of deaths in the city and urged people to consult a doctor in case of even mild cough and cold.
