KANPUR: A 12-ft long python was caught captured from the farmhouse of a poultry farmer.
The reptile was caught from the farmhouse of Naseem Mohammad in Kulpahar area of the Mahoba district on Sunday. "Mohammad was perturbed over the decreasing numbers of chickens. The mystery got unravelled in the wee hours of Sunday when he came across a giant python.

He informed the police and the forest department," Saeed Ahmed, a resident of the area said while talking to TOI over phone.
"The python has been in the area for quite some time," said a forest department official. The onlookers demanded that it should be killed. The drama ended after two hours when the python was caught.It might have come from the nearby forest and would be released after giving medication.
The forest officials said that pythons are found in forests. The reptiles are in the schedule one list under the Wildlife Protection Act.
Sources in the forest department said that a large python could squeeze life out of a deer and swallow it whole. "Pythons rarely attack humans but they are capable of doing it," a forest official said. A python lives for more than 25 years.
