Kashi Rudras defeat Gorakhpur Lions by 31 runs

Kanpur: Kashi Rudras defeated Gorakhpur Lions by 31 runs in UP T-20 league match held here under floodlights at Green Park stadium on Tuesday.
Kashi team after being invited to bat first scored 3 for 178 runs and thereafter successfully defended their total restricting Gorakhpur lions to 7 for 147 runs. Kashi captain applied defensive fielding and put pressure on rivals to play ground shots instead of big hits in the air.The strategy worked and in a bid to score runs Gorakhpur team lost wickets at regular intervals. Only Nikhil Pratap Singh (28) ,Siddharth Sarvan( 41) and Yashowardhan (26) could face rival bowlers with confidence.Best 37 runs partnership was executed by Siddharth and Nikhil for third wicket.
Defensive field setting forced them to restrict from big hits.They attempted big hits when run pressure increased and gave catches to the fielders.Shiva Singh of Kashi team was declared as man of the match.
Captain Karan Sharma and Prince Yadav’s half centuries and a 100-run partnership helped Kashi Rudras to post a total of 3 for 178 runs in 20 overs. Kashi Rudras lost its two wickets on 24 runs in 4.1 overs. Dhruv Pratap scalped Shiva Singh for 2 and Vasu Vats picked Shivam Bansal for 17 runs when Chaturvedi held him. Captain Karan led his team from the front and Prince Yadav supported him from the other end. The two were involved in an exact 100 runs partnership in 63 balls which pulled their side from a difficult situation. A Rahman at this juncture broke their partnership claiming the prize wicket of Karan who was caught at third slip by Vasu Vats. Karan scored 63 runs in 39 balls, hitting 7 boundaries and 3 sixes. Prince thereafter was involved in a 54 runs partnership with Ankur Malik for the fourth wicket. Their partnership ended on the last ball of the innings dropped by A Rahman VI who bowled Ankur Malik. Malik contributed 33 runs. Prince returned unbeaten on 59 scored in 42 balls hitting 6 boundaries and two sixes. A Rahman bagged two wickets.
