Disabled man beaten to death in Hamirpur
Kanpur: A disabled man, who had allegedly come to meet his girlfriend, was beaten to death by her family members and villagers on Wednesday evening in Hamirpur. The girl's uncle was also hurt by a knife during the scuffle while the girl attempted suicide by cutting her wrist. On being informed, the police arrived at the site and sent the injured to the community health centre (CHC) in Maudaha, where doctors declared the man dead. The girl and her uncle were referred to the district hospital.Around 4pm on Wednesday, Ravi (35), son of Kaledeen and resident of Pailani in Banda district, reached his girlfriend's house. The girl's uncle returned from the field and caught Ravi inside the house. Other family members and people from the locality also arrived at the site. They held the disabled man captive and beat him with sticks. Some locals informed UP 112 and Maudaha police, who rushed to the scene and sent the critically injured Ravi and the girl's uncle to Maudaha CHC where doctors declared Ravi dead. On learning of his death, his girlfriend also tried to end her life. Inspector Kotwali police station Umesh Singh said, "It is a case of love affair, the boy and girl are married. Ravi died in the assault. Meanwhile, the girl and her uncle are injured. The uncle received a minor injury by knife during the fight. Report will be registered and action will be taken after autopsy report and complaint from the family members of the deceased."
