KANPUR: An mob created ruckus near the site of a bridge under construction on Chakeri highway in Jajmau after a nine-year-old boy was fatally knocked by a loader on Friday.
The boy was identified as Nihal, son of Mohammad Nisar of Jajmau Bima crossing locality.
The locals said that Nihal was playing near the construction site when he was hit by a loader, leaving him critically injured.
The boy was declared dead by the doctors at a nursing home. Following the mishap, angry mob gathered at the spot and gave a chase to the loader involved in the mishap.
Sensing danger, the driver of the vehicle, fled from the spot.
Thereafter, the protestors blocked the road started throwing stones on the passing vehicles. Soon locals came there to join the agitators. The cops from Chakeri and other police stations reached the spot. The unruly scene prevailed there until senior district and police officials, accompanied by heavy police and PAC force reached the place. The cops pacified the mob and assured of prompt action. The body was sent for post-mortem examination.
A case has been filed against the unidentified loader driver with the Chakeri police.
The traffic remained paralysed in the area for hours.
Cops have been deployed in the area in the wake of the incident. The situation is under control.
