Rajasthan High Court has issued notices to the chief secretary and the home secretary seeking their replies on why a Police Complaints Authority has not been established in the state despite the Supreme Court’s directions in 2006.

JODHPUR: Rajasthan High Court has issued notices to the chief secretary and the home secretary seeking their replies on why a Police Complaints Authority has not been established in the state despite the Supreme Court’s directions in 2006.
Taking up a petition filed by Sirohi MLA Sanyam Lodha, a division bench of Justices Sandeep Mehta and Kuldeep Mathur deemed it fit to be entertained as a PIL and issued the notices.

Lodha had raised the demand for establishment of Police Complaints Authority in the state and at the district level. He had questioned the functioning of police and said the new body would make police more accountable and transparent. tnn
