He had set up a huge kitchen to provide food during the pandemic. He holds the post of president of Ashapura Mataji Trust in Pali’s Nadol.
A builder and real estate developer, Uchiyarda has made sure that no one in his village is left without roof on its head and also donated free houses to war widows.
He had tried to contest Assembly election from Lohawat constituency recently and had lobbied for contesting Lok Sabha election from Pali in 2019. But considering his political leaning and major say of ex-CM Ashok Gehlot, he did not succeed.
Congress has been striving hard to regain Jodhpur Lok Sabha seat for the previous two elections. The party had roped in Vaibhav Gehlot opposite Shekhawat in 2019 but Vaibhav lost by 27,440 votes. Before this, Congress had fielded the then sitting MP Chandresh Kumari but Shekhawat, in his maiden election, defeated her by a whopping margin of 4,10,051 votes. tnn
