Jharkhand: 13-year-old boy injured in West Singhbhum IED blast

JAMSHEDPUR: A 13-year-old boy received multiple splinter injuries in an IED blast in the Maoist-hit Goilkera village in West Singhbhum on Tuesday.The incident occurred at the Kurkutia forest site under the Goilkera police station. The injured boy, Mata Angaria, has been shifted to the Chakradharpur Sadar Hospital for advanced treatment after initial treatment at the community health centre in Goilkera, police said.SP Ashutosh Shekhar said, "Necessary medical treatment is being administered to the injured boy. He is out of danger." Angaria was walking towards a local haat and inadvertently stepped onto the pressure-triggered explosive planted underground allegedly by the Maoists to target the security forces engaged in anti-extremist operations. The boy has sustained multiple injuries on his limbs and back.Notably, this is the fourth incident of IED blasts in West Singhbhum recently and the third incident in which villagers were injured.Two villagers were killed in an IED explosion in Rengrahatu village under Tonto police station and Malikakocha village in Goilkera police station on November 20 and December 29.Moreover, 10 security personnel suffered splinter injuries in the three separate IED explosions on January 11,12, and 20 under the Tonto police station area. The security forces also unearthed and defused over 50 IEDs in the past two-and-half months.
