Congress, BJP express concern over women’s safety in state
JAMSHEDPUR: Leaders from both Congress, a part of the mahagathbandhan government in Jharkhand, and opposition BJP raised concern over safety of women in the state following the gang-rape incident of the 26-year-old software engineer on Friday.
Singhbhum Congress MP Geeta Koda said safety of women should be the top priority of any government, and rapists should face social discrimination.

"Society must give all support to the rape survivor so that she can get back to her normal life soon."
She said she has taken up the matter personally with chief minister Hemant Soren so that there are no loopholes in delivering justice to the girl. She further said much needs to be done by the state government for security of women. Policing has to be intensified, she added.
Notably, Congress is part of the 'mahagathbandhan' government in the state.
Local 'mundas' (head of the village under the munda manki system of governance in tribal areas) are taking steps to identify the accused, so that the girl gets justice, she said.
Meanwhile, lashing out at the present state government, BJP national vice-president and former chief minister Raghubar Das told TOI:"Law and order has become a matter of joke under this government."
Even police are being targeted by goons in the Steel City area. He was talking of the Friday night incident in Sonari area where police sustained multiple injuries when they raided gambling dens in Pandey Mohalla.
