Police destroy huge haul of seized contraband in J&K's Ramban

JAMMU: The Jammu and Kashmir Police on Friday destroyed 11.425 Kgs of Charas, 7 Quintal 98 Kgs 150 grams of Poppy Straw, 1.30 Kg of heroin which were seized during different raids in the district.
Police spokesperson said, "In compliance with the order of the hon’ble court of Principal & Sessions Judge Ramban, a committee headed by CJM Ramban Basheer Ahmed Munshi, comprising of SSP Ramban Ms Mohita Sharma, ADC Ramban Harbans Lal Sharma, DySP Hqrs Ramban Pardeep Singh Sen DySP (DAR), Viqar Younis, PP Sessions Court Ramban Ranjeet Singh Bandral & SHO Ramban Anil Choudhary, destroyed a huge quantity of the seized drugs and psychotropic substances under section 52A of NDPS Act."
"The destroyed contraband substances were seized under the 23 Narcotics related cases lodged in the police stations of Ramban district," police said, adding, "the destroyed substances included 11.425 Kgs of Charas, 7 Quintal 98 Kgs 150 grams of Poppy Straw, 1.30 Kg of Heroin."
Police further said, "These seized items were destroyed at Kowbag area of District Ramban in the presence of esteemed committee members headed by the hon’ble chief judicial magistrate Ramban and other Police officers of the district."
"CJM Ramban lauded the efforts of the police department in eradicating the menace of drugs from the society," police added.
