Jammu and Kashmir govt renames 57 schools & bridges after martyrs, eminent personalities

JAMMU: Jammu and Kashmir government on Monday accorded sanction to the naming of its 57 infrastructure/assets including schools, roads, bridges and sports stadiums after martyrs and eminent personalities to immortalize their sacrifice and service to the nation.It was October 30, 2021, when the Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) administration issued orders to rename several government schools after security personnel who were killed in the area and eminent personalities and the decision was taken as a mark of tribute, as part of the celebrations to mark 75 years of Independence.In its fresh order on Monday, secretary, Jammu and Kashmir general administration department (GAD) Piyush Singla ordered renaming of 57 schools and other infrastructures after security personnel martyred on line of duty.The official order read, “Sanction is accorded to the naming of 57 infrastructure and assets after martyrs and eminent personalities.”In Udhampur district, GHSS Basantgarh has been named after SI Imran Hussain Tak, GMS Baryalta (Zone Majalta) after Constable Rajinder Kumar (CRPF), GMS Jandrari after Head Constable Krishan Chand, GMS Shiv Nagar after Constable Shabir Ahmad, GGMS Thalora after Constable Ashok Kumar, GMS Tagan after Constable Sham Lal, GMS Parla Chak after Constable Mohd Aslam and GMS Masti after Constable Rattan Singh.
Similarly, GMS Bilaspur in Udhampur district has been named after Constable Chain Singh, GMS Katheel Dhangu after Constable Subash Chander, GMS Silda after Constable Ashok Kumar, GMS Seen Thakran Number 1 after Constable Romesh Lal, GMS Chari Balgla after Constable Khushi Ram, GMS Upper Bathian after Constable Ravi Kumar and GMS Chopra Shop after Constable Suraj Bhan.Further, GMS Girls Latti in Udhampur district has been named after Constable Arshad Hussain, GMS Kirkiri after SPO Sham Parshad, GMS Tandar after SPO Pardeep Kumar, GMS Chowki after Constable Raj Kumar, GMS Pangyal after SPO Noor Alam, GMS Chigli Babey after Senior Grade Constable Abdul Rashid, GMS Seri Ghantwal after Constable Azad Chand and GMS Mitla Bupp after SPO Ravi Chand.Similarly in Anantnag district, Government Girls Middle School (GGMS) Ara (Khoshipora) has been named after martyr Rameez Raja Itoo (Constable), Government Middle School (GMS) Lookbhawan after Abdul Ahad Wagay (Head Constable) and Akura Bridge after Nisar Ahmad Wagay (Constable) while Government Primary School (GPS) SK Payeen in Bandipora district has been named after Abdul Kabir Pahloo (Constable).In Shopian district, GPS Chillipora has been named after Mohd Yousuf Hajam (Senior Grade Constable), Government Upper Primary School (GUPS) Tollihallan after Farooq Ahmad Khokhar (Senior Grade Constable), GUPS Safanagri after Abdul Aziz (Senior Grade Constable) and GUPS Keegam after Farooq Ahmad Yatoo (Constable).In district Srinagar, GPS Shamasabad has been named after Inspector Shabir Ahmad Bhat, Government Girls Model Higher Secondary School Khanyar after Deputy SP Mohd Ayoub Pandit, Government Boys Middle School (GBMS) Rathpora after Constable Altaf Hussain, Government Middle School (GMS) Zoonimar after Constable Ghulam Hussain Dar and Road from Naaz crossing to Gonikhan market named as ML Bindroo Road after Makhan Lal Bindroo (pharmacist/businessman).In Budgam district, GPS Kralpora (Sanoor Kalipora) has been named after Senior Grade Constable Ghulam Hassan Mir, GPS Parry Mohalla Kanihama after Senior Grade Constable Bashir Ahmad Hajam (JKAP 7th Battalion) and GPS Sofipora Magam after Constable Mohd Iqbal Sofi (IR 3rd Battalion) while in Kupwara district, GUPS Awathkul (Meelyal) has been named after Constable Mohd Syed Khan, GMS Lalpora after Constable Fayaz Ahmad lone and GMS Lach Mawar after Constable Abdul Karim Sheikh.In Ganderbal district, GBMS Safapora has been named after ASI Abdul Khaliq Khan, GMS Ramwari after Constable Farooq Ahmad Hajam, GMS Duderhama after Constable Abdul Hamid, GMS Check-i-Kachnambal after Constable Khursheed Ahmad (IR 5th Battalion), GBMS Hakeemgund after Constable Farooq Ahmad and the playground along National highway (tehsil Kangan) after Constable Rameez Ahmad Baba.In district Pulwama, Sports Stadium has been named after Constable Gulzar Ahmad and Government High School (GHS) Payar after Constable Mushtaq Ahmad whereas in Baramulla district, GPS Salasan has been named after Constable Nazir Ahmad Mir, GMS Shaheed Meer after Constable Mohd Sultan Dar and Tashkhan Chowk/Tehsil Point Baramulla named as ‘Bindass Chowk’ after Mudasir Ahmad Sheikh (SPO).In Kulgam district, GMS Razloo has been named after Constable Mohd Shafi Dar (IR 5th Battalion) and GMS YK Pora after Constable Muzaffar Ahmad while Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Ghagwal in Samba district has been named after Major Rohit Kumar and Government Girls Higher Secondary School RS Pura in Jammu has been named after Flight Lt Advitya Bal.Moreover, divisional commissioners, Jammu and Kashmir, asked to personally monitor the naming of infrastructure assets in their respective divisions while the Deputy Commissioners shall ensure that appropriate events are held in connection with the naming of these infrastructures and assets.
