JAMMU: A joint team of BSF and J&K Police seized around 2kg of heroin, allegedly air-dropped by Pakistan, near the Indo-Pak international border in Bishnah area of Jammu district, officials said Thursday.
Acting on intelligence inputs about a suspected drone dropping lying in a field in Bahadurpur village, a few km from the international border, security forces launched a joint cordon-and-search operation late Wednesday. The search party found a bag with a rope and a hook attached. It contained several small packets of contraband, worth approximately Rs 12 crore in the international market, officials said.
An FIR was registered under the NDPS Act at Bishnah PS, and a probe was launched. Sleuths were investigating the source and destination of the narcotics, and tracing forward and backward linkages in the case, officials said.
