JAIPUR: In a yet another case of responding to a Twitter call, the authorities of North Western Railways (NWR) provided a physician to a 30-year-old woman down with fever and travelling alone with her 1-year-old son in Bareilly-Bhuj express train on Wednesday. The response came promptly after the husband of the woman sent tweets to the rail minister Suresh Prabhu and the concerned authorities of the NWR.
Sonam Chaudhary was travelling with her son Shaurya Chaudhary in train no 14321, from Bareilly to Bhuj, in IIIrd AC compartment.
"When the train crossed New Delhi, she told her husband Sonu Chaudhary over phone that she was down with fever. Though she was being helped by the fellow passengers, it was not enough. Thus at 3 pm on Wednesday her husband sent tweets to rail minister Suresh Prabhu and the general manager, NWR, Anil Singhal. Soon after, it was planned that an on board doctor should be provided to the woman," said Tarun Jain, chief public relations officer, NWR.
Finally, when the train reached the Bandikui railway station on the Delhi-Jaipur route, the doctor went to see the patient at seat no. 40 of B1 coach. "We gave her medicines and she felt okay thereafter," said the attending doctor.
Overwhelmed with the response, Sonu Chaudhary, husband of the woman who was attended by the doctor on board, said, "I could speak to her and she told me that she was feeling better and that the fever had subsided. I am really thankful to the rail minister Suresh Prabhu and other rail authorities for their prompt action and for helping my wife on board."
It may be recalled that in a similar incident on November 29, a man from Bangalore travelling with a paralytic father was puzzled on how he would get off the train at his destination station Medta road, during early morning hours. He used Twitter to share his plight. Thereafter, the railway authorities promptly reached the station with a coolie and wheelchair,
