Jaipur: The JMC-Greater administration has started preparing for Swachh Survekshan Survey to be conducted two months later with the aim of improving its score this year. The corporation is focusing on a daily door-to-door waste collection with proper processing and ensuring that dustbins are placed outside shops in all marketplaces to reduce bulk commercial waste dumps on roads.

The corporation has started sending waste collection vehicles to houses twice a day since the past few weeks.
To check cleanliness arrangements in the city, commissioner Mahendra Soni has been conducting ground inspections daily for two weeks and ensuring that spots where garbage is accumulated get cleaned immediately.
“Strict action is being taken against personnel who are found to be lax and negligent. We are acting against all officials across different levels and ensure that everyone is serious about cleanliness arrangements,” said the commissioner. The corporation is also working towards making the city open depot free, which was announced after the executive committee meeting held last week. The city has over 100 open depots in areas falling under the jurisdiction of JMC-Greater.
Puneet Karnawat, deputy mayor of JMC-Greater said, “Improving cleanliness is our primary focus and we are working to improve door-to-door waste collection system. Now, waste collection vehicles are being sent to wards twice a day in Malviya Nagar and Murlipura zones so that both household and commercial waste get picked up on a regular basis. We are also trying to procure refuse compactor so that open depots can be removed from the city.”
A refuse compactor is a machine in which waste collected from houses can be transferred, which gets compressed immediately and can be directly transferred to the landfill instead of accumulating garbage in open depots across the city.
Karnawat added at least 75 refuse compactors would be needed for the whole area falling under JMC-Greater.
“Until we have a system of open depots, cleanliness cannot be perfect as transportation of waste will take place within the city. We have asked garages to submit their demands on machinery needed so that the waste system can be improved,” added Karnawat.
