: The MalviyaNagar
police on Monday arrested Jacob John, the owner of a 'child care centre
' who illegally kept two girls from the northeastern states at his home in MalviyaNagar
on Monday. The police found two girls from Manipur kept illegally at his home, who were rescued on March 24.
Malviya Nagar circle inspector Bhagwat Singh said, "We have arrested John on charge of keeping children illegally and without adoption.
He is arrested under Section 344 of IPC for wrongful confinement of children and also under sections 370 of IPC and sections 23 and 28 of Juvenile Justice Act."
These two girls were apart from the 51 girls and boys rescued on March 12 by Rajasthan State Commission for Protection of Child Rights, FXB Suraksha, an NGO, and district administration along with the help of other NGOs from two unregistered care homes in Mansarovar and Jawahar Nagar, allegedly opened by Jacob John, a pastor.
They Jawahar Nagar police and Mansarovar police had arrested Jacob but later he was released on bail. Now Malviya Nagar police arrested him on Monday.
FXB Suraksha Rajasthan branch programme coordinator Lata Singh said, "We met Jaipur police commissioner on Monday and demanded that since three cases against Jacob were registered in three different police stations, there should be one investigating officer in the case, preferably of an assistant commissioner of police rank, so that more effective investigation could be done in the case."
Meanwhile, a team of Nagaland officials has also reached Jaipur on Monday to take back their eight children.
Also, the magistrate recorded the statement of the girl, who alleged sexual abuse against her at the child care home.
Child Welfare Committee chairperson Ram Prakash Bairwa said that the procedure of sending the Nagaland children back to their state is in progress.
