Indore: Two youths were arrested in Indore after police intercepted them during a hotspots checking drive in Bhanwarkuan area and recovered an illegal country-made pistol along with two live cartridges, officials said.
The action was part of a city-wide drive to keep a check on criminal elements and prevent possible offences. Police said the accused tried to flee after spotting the team during checking on March 21, but were chased and caught after a brief attempt to escape.
On searching them, police recovered one country-made pistol and two live cartridges. The duo failed to provide any valid explanation or documents for possessing the weapon, leading to their arrest under relevant provisions of the Arms Act.
The accused were identified as Yash Tank, 20 and Nitesh Ghavari, 22, both residents of Bhuri Tekri.
Police said preliminary inputs suggest the accused were planning to execute a crime, which was averted due to timely intervention.
