Indore: The State Engineering Services Examination conducted by
Madhya Pradesh Public Service Commission on Sunday saw a low turnout, with only about 40% attendance as nearly 1,520 candidates appeared across 10 centres in the city.
The examination, held from 12 noon to 3 pm, was conducted without any major disruptions. More than 3,800 candidates registered for 32 posts in key departments such as Water Resources, Public Health Engineering, and Farmers Welfare and Agriculture Development. Officials said all centres functioned smoothly, with adequate arrangements in place.
To ensure fairness, the Commission deployed special observers at all centres, and the exam was conducted in an OMR-based format.
Despite the relatively lower turnout, authorities maintained strict vigilance throughout the process.
The competition level this year remained lower compared with the previous cycle, when nearly 8,000 candidates applied for just 23 posts. This time, the ratio stood at around 120 candidates per post, significantly easing pressure on aspirants.
Officials indicated that the result is likely to be declared within a month, possibly in April, followed by interviews scheduled for May and June.
The shorter timeline is expected to expedite the recruitment process.
MPPSC OSD R Panchbhai said the examination was conducted in a smooth and orderly manner.
Sources also suggest that the number of posts may be increased before the declaration of results. While 32 vacancies have been notified, an addition of 20 to 25 posts is under consideration, keeping in view long-standing demands from candidates.
