Indore: The Dawoodi Bohra community in the city welcomed Eid-ul-Fitr with a quiet sense of fulfilment and celebration as the month of Ramzan drew to a close after 30 days of fasting, prayer and reflection.From early morning, families dressed in traditional attire, made their way to neighbourhood mosques. The main Eid prayers at Saifee Nagar saw a large gathering, where rows of worshippers stood together after offering namaz, marking the end of the sacred month. As the namaz concluded, the solemnity of the moment gently gave way to warmth, with people embracing one another and exchanging greetings of ‘Eid Mubarak.'Across localities, ‘khushi majlis' (a gathering where people unite and sit) were organised, turning the day into one of shared joy. At Saifee Nagar, the main majlis was presided over by Mustansir Bin Bahlul, who conveyed greetings and offered prayers for the well-being of the community. Special prayers were also offered for the long life and good health of spiritual leader Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin, along with hopes for his early visit to the city.
A member of the community, Mazhar Hussain Sethjiwala and Burhanuddin Shakruwala said, the festival carried forward the spirit of Ramzan. "Eid is not just a day of celebration for us. It reflects the discipline, patience and compassion we practised through the month. Meeting everyone today, sharing food and offering prayers together makes it complete," he said.In Siyaganj's Izzi Jamaat, the Eid ‘khutbah' (a formal sermon) was led by Aamil Sheikh Yusuf Bhai Susnerwala, followed by a gathering attended by a large number of the community members. Food remained at the heart of the celebrations. Homes prepared sevaiyan, sheer khurma and kharak, which were shared with relatives and guests throughout the day. The community also took a moment to recognise volunteers, who had quietly supported daily iftar and meal services during RamzanNamaz offered across mosques carried a common note, seeking peace, progress and harmony. As families visited one another through the day, Eid unfolded not just as a festival, but as a continuation of the togetherness built over the past month.
