Telangana: Zilla parishad school in Sircilla sports FIFA-standard ground

As schools reopened on Monday after they had been closed due to the Covid situation and lockdown in March last year, students of the Zilla Parishad Girls High School at Geethanagar in Rajanna-Sircilla district returned to a premises that was renovated to give it a corporate look.

HYDERABAD: A zilla parishad school in Rajanna-Sircilla district has got a FIFA-standard football ground, corporate look and facilities.As schools reopened on Monday after they had been closed due to the Covid situation and lockdown in March last year, students of the Zilla Parishad Girls High School at Geethanagar in Rajanna-Sircilla district returned to a premises that was renovated to give it a corporate look. The renovation was done under corporate social responsibility (CSR) of corporates in private-public partnership mode at a cost of Rs 3 crore.The renovated school, apart from a football turf, has 40 renovated rooms with furniture, an innovation lab, 12 CCTV cameras, high-speed LAN and WiFi. The dining hall has a capacity to seat 500 students. There is a clinic to attend to students. According to IT and municipal administration minister KT Rama Rao, the school has a capacity for 1,000 students and facilities for digital learning. The school, as KTR described, has a “Fifa quality football ground with turf”.The IT minister inaugurated the renovated school in Sircilla and welcomed students back to attend classes. Students of Class 9 and above, junior and degree colleges returned to their educational institutions from Monday with Covid precautions.“I saw the condition of the school during a visit one and a half years ago. We got corporates involved in renovating it. It could have been with government funding too, but it would have taken time and procedures but at my request corporates came forward to renovate the school which is the envy of corporate schools,” KT Rama Rao said. He said the government was spending Rs 1.20 lakh on each student pursuing their studies in social welfare and gurukul schools. The minister urged corporates to come forward to adopt more schools.
