TSPSC case: 17 of 18 accused held, will arrest 1 from New Zealand soon: Telangana to HC

HYDERABAD: The state government on Tuesday informed the Telangana high court that 17 of the 18 people accused of leaking papers of exams conducted by the Telangana State Public Service Commission (TSPSC) had been arrested and one accused, who is in New Zealand, would also be arrested soon.
“The arms of the law are long and we will also get the man in New Zealand soon,” advocate general (AG) BS Prasad told Justice B Vijaysen Reddy while submitting the probe status report in a sealed cover on Tuesday.
The court, which was hearing the case filed by NSUI leader Balmoor Venkat Narsing Rao seeking a CBI probe into the issue, had earlier ordered the state to submit the status report.
The HC rejected the plea of senior counsel Vivek Tankha, appearing for Venkat, for a copy of the status report.
After Tankha expressed several apprehensions over the way the probe was progressing, the AG assured him that the police were doing a good job and that the status report submitted to the court described in detail the way the accused had leaked the exam papers.
When the judge sought to know from the state about the TSPSC allowing certain employees to appear for the recruitment tests, AG Prasad pointed out that they were kept away from the examination process.
The judge sought a detailed report on the roles played by each of the accused and posted the case to April 24.
