hyderabad: as part of its efforts to improve performance at various levels, the transmission corporation of andhra pradesh (aptransco) has introduced a new performance monitoring and review system (pmrs) through which the performance of each section, sub-division, division and circle is updated at the field level and transmitted directly to the headquarters.
the parameters selected by the corporation under pmrs to evaluate the performance are power supply position, purchase cost, revenue demand and collections, energy drawls against the tariff order, transmission and distribution loss reduction, physical and financial progress of investments on transmission and distribution systems and energy audit as well as theft. this was disclosed by transco chairman and managing director p ramakanth reddy at a meeting of joint directors and senior officials called to review the progress of works at different levels. speaking on the occasion, ramakanth reddy said the energy demand has touched its peak of 153 million units a day and it was being met without imposing any restrictions on the grid. with the increased demand, the total power purchase this year was expected to touch 43,450 mu as against the 42,135 mu approved by the erc. according to a press release, reddy also state that the power purchase cost this year was likely to go up as the hydel generation has dropped to 5,900 mu against the projected 8,694 mu and the shortfall was being made up by stepping up thermal generation. the revenue collections of transco up to february this year were rs 6,096 crore as against the rs 5,029 crore during the corresponding period last year and the collections included rs 866.79 crore arrears. the meeting also reviewed progress of works like installation of new distribution transformers, erection of sub-stations and other related issues. meanwhile,transco joint managing director (revenue & hrd) dinesh kumar has appealed to agriculture consumers to extend cooperation to the corporation so that the corporation could provide them better services. calling on the farming community to emulate the model of nallapureddypalle village of cuddapah district, which volunteered to pay power charges of rs 18 lakh towards their power consumption in time, he said it would help transco to serve better.
