Thieves arrested, booty worth Rs 1.25 crore recovered

HYDERABAD: Bowenpally police arrested five people, including two receivers, in connection with a burglary at a businessman’s house in December 2014, and recovered booty worth Rs 1.25 crore on Tuesday.
Police arrested Mohammed Tahsin Ali, a car driver, his brother Mohammed Mohsin Ali, his friend Mohammed Aslamullah, all from Sikh Village, Nemichand Jain and Akshay Jain, jewellers from Pot Market in Secunderabad, who had purchased the stolen valuables.

The victim, Ajay Harinath, runs a hotel at Tadbund in Bowenpally. On January 23, Ajay lodged a complaint with police about theft of valuables worth Rs 1.37 crore, including Rs 25 lakh cash and four kilos of gold. According to him, he and his family had been out of station for more than two months and discovered the theft when they returned in the third week of January. Ajay suspected the role of the watchman of his house, Khadeer, and his driver, Tahsin Ali, in the burglary.
Police raided the hideout of Tahsin and Mohsin at Hasmathpet on Tuesday morning. Based on their confession, they recovered 23 stolen gold biscuits and 15 tola gold ornaments from jewellers Nemichand and Akshay Jain from Pot Market. They also recovered Rs 12.7 lakh in cash, four Innovas purchased with the stolen property, two bikes, six cell phones and a laptop.
