HYDERABAD/HANUMAKONDA: Huzurabad MLA Eatala Rajender appeared before Warangal police on Monday in connection with the SSC exam question paper leak case, while BJP state president Bandi Sanjay was absent as he sent his response to police notice through his advocate. Sanjay told police that he had lost his cellphone and a case was registered in Karimnagar commissionerate.
Earlier, in response to a notice issued by Kamalapur police, Eatala appeared before Warangal central zone DCP Mohammed Abdul Bari.
The MLA was questioned for one-and-a-half hours by Bari. "Huzurabad MLA appeared in person. We recorded his statement and after examining contents in his phone, returned it," he said.
Eatala told reporters the police notice were part of political conspiracy to divert attention from TSPSC case. "I was asked by cops about the accused, Prashanth. I showed my phone records and it was clear that Prashanth did not call me or send message. Another person, Mahesh, sent me a message and I did not open it. They asked me if I had forwarded the message and I told them I did not," he said.
Sanjay said: "I deny the allegations made against me. I call upon police to recall the notice issued to me and not insist on my visit to the police station until my lost cellphone is traced." The DCP said: "We have received the written reply from Sanjay and sought a legal opinion."
