Spotlight on Ponguleti & Bhatti during Rahul Jana Garjana rally

Hyderabad: At the July 2 ‘Telangana Jana Garjana’ public meeting to be addressed by AICC leader Rahul Gandhi in Khammam, joining of former MP Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy into Congress and culmination of CLP leader Bhatti Vikramarka’s padayatra will be the two main events.
Though there was a proposal to organise two huge public meetings in Khammam district to get more political mileage — one for the joining of Ponguleti and the other to mark the conclusion Bhatti’s 1,300-km padayatra — the party’s think-tank has decided that having one meeting is better than holding two meetings in the same district in a short span of time.
Rahul Gandhi has already given time to the Telangana Congress leadership that he would come for the July 2 public meeting to formally welcome Ponguleti, his followers and other main leaders into the party.
Bhatti, who started his padayatra from Adilabad on March 16, has so far covered nearly 40 assembly constituencies. On Wednesday, he entered the border of Khammam district.
On July 2, his walkathon will reach the outskirts of Khammam town where he will be received by top leaders of Telangana Congress and also Ponguleti, among others. “Bhatti would be felicitated by Rahul Gandhi on the dais during the public meeting. Ponguleti and top leaders of Telangana Congress would welcome Bhatti and accompany him to the meeting dais,” AICC in-charge of Telangana Manikrao Thakre told TOI. Thakre met Bhatti on Wednesday and was accompanied by Ponguleti.
