Secunderabad Cantt: MoD's decision final on road closure issue

HYDERABAD: A long wait may continue for thousands of commuters for reopening of the six public roads of North Eastern Part of Secunderabad Cantonment.
The road closure issue will be resolved by a committee, constituted by the 'ministry of defence' {MoD), as per a resolution passed by the three-member of SCB in the board meeting held in Secunderabad Cantonment, on Friday.
SCB chief executive officer D Madhukar Naik said in the board meeting that the MoD's committee received representations on a total of 39 roads across the country and urged them to reopen them.
Of which, six roads are in Secunderabad Cantonment.
The SCB officials have issued a public notice, four months ago, of the continuing of closing of six roads, including Ammuguda road, Byam Road, Albion Road, Empress Road, Protnee Road and Richardson Road and invited objections.
Hundreds of petitions flooded to SCB, urging them to reopen these six roads.
Three members of the SCB have discussed about an half hour on the road closure issue.
SCB CEO Naik after the meeting told the media that a meeting with MoD committee may likely be held this week on the road closure issue and based on the decision and resolution would be tabled in the next SCB's board meeting.
Members of the Federation of North Eastern Colonies of Secunderabad, a civic body which was fighting to reopen the 21 roads including six roads, is upset over keeping the issue pending.
