Rapist gets life imprisonment

HYDERABAD: Y Aravind Reddy, the fifth additional district and sessions judge and also in-charge of special court for SCs and STs at Sangareddy in Medak district, has sentenced a 20-year-old worker, PintuYadav from Bihar, to life imprisonment for raping a six-year-old tribal girl. The judge slapped 10 years rigorous imprisonment on the rapist for the offence under section 376 f of IPC that deals with raping of minors and life sentence under the provisions of SC, STs ( prevention of atrocities) Act.
Pintu Yadav migrated from Nalanda district of Bihar to Medak to work in a rolling mill at Patancheru. He was also slapped a fine of Rs 2,000 under the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act and another Rs 1000 under section 376-f of IPC. Both the sentences will run concurrently and in case of default on payment of the fine, the convict will have to undergo three-month additional jail.
According to the prosecution, Yadav lured the 6-year-old girl, whose family resided in a hamlet in Patancheru mandal, with a promise of buying her chocolates on the evening of May 18, 2012. He then took the girl to the outskirts of the hamlet and raped her. The case launched, prosecution completed and judgment delivered in a record span of just ten months in this case.
According to the parents of the victim and other residents of the hamlet, the child was so terrified by the incident that she wass unable to move freely after that ghastly crime. She was insisting on her mother to accompany her even for going to toilet.
The residents of the hamlet and the parents of the victim demanded death sentence for the rapist. Some of them however said that punishment in this case has come without much delay.
