HYDERABAD: Commuting in the city on Monday turned into an ordeal due to heavy spells of
rain throughout the day and resulted in the usual aftermath -- traffic jams, water logging and uprooting of trees. The Met department recorded 31.4 mm rainfall till evening and has forecast similar weather for the Greater Hyderabad region on Tuesday.
The heavy rain, officials said, was triggered by a low pressure area formed over west central Bay of Bengal.
The rains brought down the maximum temperature to 27 degrees Celsius on Monday down from Sunday’s 31 degrees Celsius.
As a result of the rain, the arterial roads in Secunderabad and Hyderabad experienced traffic jams which was compounded due to the bad condition of roads. Most of the roads have either massive potholes or had huge chunks literally washed away during the rains.
Water logging was reported from more than 50 places in the city.
