HYDERABAD: The Hyderabad Metropolitan Water Supply and Sewerage Board (HMWS&SB) plans to hand over the Singur/Manjeera network to the Panchayat Raj Department.
In fact, two major defence establishments including the Ordnance Factory Medak (OFM) and Bharat Dynamics Limited (BDL) were among those affected when the board did not supply water. The water board then arranged for water tankers as a temporary solution.

“The water board is trying to switch over the entire Singur/Manjeera water supply network including pipelines, service reservoir and other infrastructure to the Panchayat Raj Department as the department has experience in tackling water in rural areas under the ‘Mission Bhagiratha’ programme,” according to sources in HMWS&SB. As the industries are located abutting ORR, it is difficult to tackle water supply issues.
