HYDERABAD: To commemorate Mahatma Gandhi's 150th birth anniversary, Gandhi Global Family (GGF) and Gandhi Gyan Prathisthan (GGP) is planning a massive gathering of 12,000 students dressed in Gandhi's attire. The novel method of celebration is being planned in the presence of about 25,000 people at LB Stadium in the third week of September this year.
Before that a similar programme would be conducted in Vijayawada in the second week of August.
"Our focus is propagating the ideals of Mahatma Gandhi and also promoting national integration, peace and harmony among all sections of the soceity," GGF and GGP secretary G Rajender Reddy and secretary T Purushottam Reddy respectively told media on Wednesday.
They said the GGF and GGP have conducted Bala Gandhiji programme on October 2, 2018, in Nalgonda with about 5,149 students dressed like Gandhiji and it was entered into the Guiness Book of world Records.
"Our organizations are international socieity organizations working on the UN's sustainable development goals. We have been organizing various programmes to sensitize people in achieving these goal like strengthening self help groups promoting skill development programmes, rain water harvesting, organic farming and non-conventional energy," Rajender Reddy said.
They have extended an invitation to President and Prime Minister for the two programmes.
