HYDERABAD: Police arrested NSUI leader Ch Vamshi Chandar Reddy for instigating people to attack Reliance outlets on January 7 night. Vamshi was picked by Task Force sleuths from Road Number 10 in Banjara Hills on Saturday night.
Later on Sunday, Vamshi’s father Ch Ram Reddy approached APSHRC chairman Justice Subhashan Reddy complaining that police refused to divulge any information and requested him to intervene in the matter.

Responding to the complaint, Justice Subhashan Reddy directed the city police commissioner to submit a report on Vamshi Chandar Reddy’s status. The Saidabad police informed that they had arrested Vamshi for attacking Reliance Fresh outlet at Vinay Nagar Colony on January 7 under sections 143 (Being member of an unlawful assembly), 147 (Rioting), 427 (Mischief and thereby causing damage to an amount more than Rs 50) and section 506 (Criminal intimidation) r/w section 109 (Abetment of any offence) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
Later in the night, the Saidabad police granted station bail to Vamshi as all cases registered against him were bailable.
But soon after, the SR Nagar police arrested him under several non-bailable sections including 120-B (Criminal conspiracy) and section 7 (1) of the Criminal Law Amendment Act.
“Vamshi has been arrested for instigating people to attack Reliance outlets in SR Nagar police limits on January 7. He will be produced before court on Monday,” DCP, West Zone, C Ravi Varma said.
During the investigation, police discovered that Vamshi had sent over 700 SMSes from his mobile to various people across the state asking them to attack Reliance outlets on January 7. “He also logged on to an SMS service provider website from his phone and dispatched about 950 similar SMSes,” an investigating official said.

Meanwhile, the Banjara Hills police arrested Jagan Yuva Sena president Satya Reddy and his associate Andhra Srinu for attacking Heritage outlet at Film Nagar and some other commercial establishments there on January 7.
“They will be produced before the magistrate on Monday and some of their associates are yet to be arrested,” Banjara Hills inspector Iqbal Siddiqi said.
On Sunday afternoon, representatives of NTV, against which a case was registered at Banjara Hills police station for broadcasting reports on Ambani’s involvement in YSR helicopter crash case, met DGP R R Girish Kumar at his office to voluntarily cooperate with the investigation and surrender the data related to the news item.
The NTV delegation led by director B L Rao and chief editor K Srinivasa Rao informed the DGP that they did not provoke citizens to resort to violence but only covered the news.
The DGP discussed the issue with CID additional DG A Sivanarayana and informed NTV delegation to meet the CID chief on Monday and surrender the data.
Cyber Forensic team led by Government Examiner for Questioned Document’s (GEQD) PK Shastry is working on the digital audio visual data seized from TV5 and Sakshi TV offices.
