Teenmar Mallana case: Dharmapuri Arvind gets anticipatory bail from Telangana HC

HYDERABAD: BJP leader and Nizamabad MP Dharmapuri Arvind was granted anticipatory bail on Monday by the Telangana high court in a criminal case filed against him for allegedly denigrating atrocity cases while referring to charges brought in by the state against social activist Teenmar Mallanna.
Chief Justice Ujjal Bhuyan told the authorities to release him on a personal bond in case they decide to arrest him while hearing the case filed by one Bangaru Sailu of Nizamabad.
Arvind, who had met Mallanna in Chanchalguda jail, had slammed the state government for filing ‘false cases’ on the social activist. He had said that Mallanna had got bail in all cases except a few ‘lotta peesu’ (silly cases) referring to charges against him under the provisions of SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
Subsequently, Sailu had filed a criminal case against the MP for using insulting language to refer to atrocity cases. The CJ also sought counters from the authorities and posted the case to April 21.tnn
