HYDERABAD: Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao is aiming for an unprecedented win in the next general elections. He intends to win 90% of the seats in the assembly to prove that he continues to command the support of the people after TRS's five-year rule. He has, therefore, taken upon himself to extend benefits to almost all voters in the state.
KCR intends to extend direct benefit to at least one crore people.
According to 2011 Census, there were 1.62 crore voters in Telangana of which about 49% are women. The chief minister has announced doles for every section of society. As per his plan, nearly 30 lakh out of the total 60 lakh women beneficiaries will vote for his government. Through schemes such as the Asara pensions, single women benefit, pregnant woman doles, KCR Kits, Kalyana Laxmi and Shadi Mubarak, the state government is spending nearly 3,000 crore every year to give cash incentive to nearly 60 lakh women. For rural Telangana, the chief minister will spend 4,000 on doles for fertilizers. This scheme, as per the plan, will benefit over 25 lakh farmers. The CM has estimated that at least 20 lakh farmers would vote for him.
Sheep distribution is set to start in a month and is expected to benefit 20 lakh Yadav families in Telangana. The Yadav community leaders have already pledged their support to the CM. Communities such as the Yadav, the Kurmi and the Golla play a decisive role in more than 18 constituencies and 21 assembly segments. KCR is said to have claimed that the TRS would win in these constituencies. The government will also distribute 10 crore fish to benefit the fishermen community. To raise hopes in most backward castes, the CM has appointed a MBC corporation and allotted 1,000 crore.
KCR has taken the membership drive of his party seriously. For the first time in the history of TRS, the party has enrolled more than 75 lakh members. All of them have been offered accident and health insurance along with other benefits. "As part of the ruling party, they would get respect along with some other benefits. And the chief minister has been giving posts to party workers and till date nearly 20,000 people have got posts in temple, marketing, agriculture and food committees. Targeting the 2019 elections, at the district level, KCR has ordered that strong leaders from other parties must be lured into the party.In the recent past former MP Ramesh Rathod has joined TRS from TDP.
