ECI to CEO: No more voter deletions

Election Commission of India on Tuesday informed the Hyderabad High Court that it has directed the chief electoral officer of Telangana not to allow any further deletions of the names of voters from the voters list in the purview of Greater Hyderabad municipal corporation.

HYDERABAD: Election Commission of India on Tuesday informed the Hyderabad High Court that it has directed the chief electoral officer of Telangana not to allow any further deletions of the names of voters from the voters list in the purview of Greater Hyderabad municipal corporation.Avinash Desai, the counsel for the EC told this to Justice C V Nagarjuna Reddy who was hearing pleas by Nagesh Mudiraj, the chairman of Congress GHMC OBC cell and Feroze Khan of TDP, who charged the authorities with deleting 6.3 lakh votes. The EC which got the allegations verified, however, found that there were no political motives or deliberate deletions or arbitrary actions in the conduct of the officials.The EC's senior principal secretary Tapas Kumar conveyed this to Nagesh.
