HYDERABAD: Don't be swayed by Congress' poll promises, chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao on Sunday told a packed rally at Suryapet, pointing to Karnataka, where he claimed the state, including its capital Bengaluru was being wracked by power cuts within three months of the party wresting power.
"People of Karnataka trusted Congress and they are suffering. We have stepped into poll mode in Telangana.
1x1 polls
Congress and BJP will sing different tunes to seek votes. They will promise you the moon. These are not new parties and their report card is before you. Congress is seeking one opportunity to serve you, but people had given them 50 years when farmers suffered and died by suicide," saidthe Telangana chief minister.

Chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao also warned that 'pyravikaar' (broker) raj will return if Congress is voted to power as they have promised to abolish Dharani land management system. "Why didn't Congress think of Rythu Bandhu, Rythu Bima, Kalyana Lakshmi and other welfare schemes in 50 years. Every eligible beneficiary from the BC community will get Rs 1lakh financial grant. The remaining crop loan waiver and Rythu Bandhu grants will be released soon. Trust me, BRS is all set to come back to power with a bigger mandate," he said.
KCR's overt reference to Karnataka assumes significance as Congress' popularity charts rose in Telangana after its electoral sweep of the neighbouring state. And CM's ballistic attack on the grand old party and his muted charge against BJP reflects the emerging status of Congress as its principal rival in Telangana.
Though the CM attacked both Congress and BJP for their takes on 24x7 free power in villages, his speech centred around cautioning people against falling prey to the grand old party's promises. "Congress will only give you three-hour power and BJP is insisting on installing meters on agricultural motors," he warned.

The CM also showered sops on Suryapet district, promising Rs 50 crore for the municipality, Rs 25 crore each for remaining four municipalities, Rs 10 lakh each to 475 panchayats, a new polytechnic women's college building, sports stadia and sports school, R&B guest house building and development of roads. He appealed to the people to ensure victory for BRS in 12 assembly seats of erstwhile Nalgonda district.
Referring to Rs 4,000 pension promise by Congress as against Rs 2016 being given by BRS government, KCR said there was no such pension scheme in Congress-governed Chhattisgarh, Rajasthan and Karnataka. How can a party have different policies on pension in different states? In undivided Andhra Pradesh, the Congress government would dole out only Rs 200 as pension. "BRS will also raise the pension amount and an announcement will be made shortly. Unlike Congress, we make promises which can be implemented. Your vote is your weapon to shape your future. The state has achieved miraculous development through welfare schemes in the last 10 years and more needs to be done. Development should not stop, so you need to be cautious while casting your vote. Go back to villages and discuss what is better for you," said KCR.
