84 fined during ‘motor-free tapwater’ drive
Hyderabad: As part of the ‘motor-free tapwater' drive, HMWSSB on Tuesday seized 64 motors and imposed a fine on 84 consumers for using motors illegally. During the inspections, it was found that consumers illegally installed motors to their connections and pumping water.
While interacting with apartment owners during his visit to Madhapur, HMWSSB MD Ashok Reddy said they were supplying water to the citizens from about 150 km away through large pumps. He highlighted that the purification cost amounts to Rs 50 per thousand litres and advised against using this treated water for washing plants, floors, and vehicles.
It may be recalled that, under the driver, officials will impose a Rs 5,000 fine on consumers if they are found drawing water illegally by connecting motor pumps during supply time.
