hyderabad: the government has promoted eight ias officers to the rank of principal secretary and retained them in the same posts, where there are currently working. the ias officers who were promoted include j satyanarayana, g sudhir, md shafiquzzaman, jannat hussain, m chaya ratan, lal rosem, s m balasubrahmanyam and m v s prasad. all these officers belong to the 1977 batch.
according to the orders issued by chief secretary p v rao, j satyanarayana will continue as principal secretary in the department of it and communications. g sudhir will be principal secretary in the higher education department, while md shafiquzzaman will be vice-chairman and managing director of andhra pradesh state irrigation development corporation limited. jannat hussian has been redesignated as principal secretary in the social welfare department, while m chaya ratan will be principal secretary in animal husbandry, dairy and fisheries department and lal rosem will continue as commissioner of state archives. s m balasubrahmanyam will be vicechairman and managing director in andhra pradesh industrial development corporation and m v s prasad will continue with the andhra pradesh industrial infrastructure corporation. however, prabhakar d thomas, also of the 1977 batch, was not considered for promotion, while two officers — indrajit pal, who is on foreign deputation, and m v p c sastry, who is on central deputation and working with the ministry of commerce — were not considered for promotion as they are on foreign and central deputation.
