19-yr-old disabled girl raped by neighbour

Hyderabad: A 19-year-old physically-challenged girl was allegedly raped by her neighbour at Valigonda in Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district on Sunday night.
The victim lives with her parents in Valigonda. She suffers from walk and speech disabilities since her childhood. On Sunday night, the victim slept in the verandah of their house, while her parents slept on the terrace.On Monday morning, the victim told her mother, through signs, that she was raped by their 22-year-old neighbour.
“The accused is a coconut vendor. He noticed that the girl, who is physically challenged, was sleeping alone. He raped the girl and fled from the scene,” Valigonda sub-inspector P Shiva Ganga Prasad said.
The girl’s family lodged a complaint with Valigonda police. Police recorded the statement of the victim’s family and sent the teenager for medical examination. Police apprehended the accused near his house on Monday. A rape case was booked against him under Section 376 of the IPC. The accused would be produced before court on Tuesday.
