Belagavi: Belagavi Journalists Association (BJA) had organised an interaction programme with Mangesh Pawar, the new mayor of Belagavi City Corporation(BCC), deputy mayor Vani Joshi, and Belagavi South MLA Abhay Patil at Vartha Bhavan here on Saturday. The event focused on various issues, including water and e-khata, parking problem, tax issues, diversion of Hidkal dam water to Hubballi-Dharwad industrial areas etc. BJA president Vilas Joshi presided, while deputy director of information & public relations department, Gurunath Kadabur, was present on the dais.
Mayor Mangesh Pawar said he will not discriminate against any caste, religion, or language and will focus on the mantra of development. He stated that there is currently no water problem within BCC limits. "This time, there is adequate water storage. The water supply disruption is due to power cuts, technical problems, and other development works. Action has been taken to repair borewells in the city. There are 14 tankers in Belagavi North and 14 tankers in Belagavi South in operation to supply water," he added.
MLA Abhay Patil mentioned that borewells had been drilled to solve the water problem. Action was taken to refill the wells. KJA treasurer Ravindra Uppar, general secretary Naushad Vijapur, vice presidents Shrishail Mathad and Sanjay Suryavanshi, Rajasekhar Patil, Suresh Nerli, Raju Gavali, Keerti Shekhar Kasaragod, and Luis Rodrigues were present.
