HAVERI: Rapid expansion in the field of higher education has resulted in excessive teaching and attempts to keep abreast in research, which is essential, said Dr R G Hegde.
He was addressing student delegates at a one-day state level seminar on `Stakeholders Participation in Quality Assurance and Enhancement at Higher Educational Institutions' at KLE Society's G H College, in Haveri on Saturday.

According to Hegde, education is essential as it refines sensitivities and perception that contribute to national cohesion, a scientific temper and independence of mind and spirit, furthering the goals of socialism, secularism and democracy that are part of our Constitution.
Principal B S Gavi, life member of KLE society Dr B C Bannur and convener N V Kambalimath also spoke. 30 undergraduate students of various colleges from different parts of the state presented their papers at the seminar.
